"Live Evil" był pierwszym albumem koncertowym wydanym oficjalnie w historii Black Sabbath i trzecim albumem drugiego wcielenia zespołu z Ronniem Jamesem Dio jako wokalistą. Po niezwykłych sukcesach albumów "Heaven and Hell" i "Mob Rules", które pokryły się odpowiednio platyną i złotem oraz zyskały sobie przychylność zarówno fanów jak i krytyków muzycznych zespół ruszył w trasę koncertową, która również okazała się sukcesem. Zaplanowano nagranie kilku występów z myślą o wydaniu nagrań w formie albumu koncertowego. 
 
Wydany w 1983 roku album "Live Evil" jako podwójna płyta dotarł do 13. miejsca w Wielkiej Brytanii i 37. na liście Billboard Top 200. Jeden z najbardziej wpływowych wówczas magazynów muzycznych 'Kerrang!' napisał o niej że jest to “jeden z najlepszych albumów koncertowych wszechczasów”.

I tak obok koncertowych wersji 'Neon Knights', 'The Sign Of The Southern Cross', 'Voodoo', czy 'Children Of The Sea', można posłuchać jak Ronnie James Dio poradził sobie z kojarzonymi z głosem Ozzyego Osbourne'a 'Paranoid’, 'War Pigs’, ‘Iron Man’, czy ‘N.I.B.’.
 
LIVE EVIL (40th ANNIVERSARY SUPER DELUXE EDITION) dostępne jest w wersjach 4CD i 4LP oraz cyfrowej. Zawiera dwie wersje albumu: na nowo zremasterowana przez Andy’ego Pearce’a oraz wersji z nowym mixem oryginalnych i analogowych wielośladowych ścieżek nagraniowych wykonanym przez Wyn’a Davisa. Wersja fizyczna wzbogacona jest o ilustrowaną książkę okładkową w twardej oprawie z nową treścią oraz replikami książeczek koncertowych i plakatu z trasy Mob Rules.
